BINGLEY in trade

Working for Willers

This first shot shows Bingley back in the days of Willow Wren when she was paired with Ascot.  The other pair in the photo are Stirling and Virginis. Stirling's engine had broken down and so motor Ascot was pulling all four loaded boats.  Here the two pairs are seen working up 'Burco's' in 1967 with the butties being long lined.

Top of Riders Green Locks
Bingley with the outside of the cabin finished but as yet the helm had not been made. This picture was taken at the top of the Riders Green flight of eight locks in Great Bridge.  I had just bow hauled her by myself from our mooring in Toll End.  About two miles and eight locks away.

Greets Green Junction
Another view of Bingley at Riders Green top (The Graysey ate)lock this time looking towards Greets Green Junction.  The Butty was being moved back over to Tipton to have the cabin sides sign written. I was waiting for a snatch from Clive Stevens' motor Battersea

Toll End Branch
Bingley at her home mooring on the Toll End branch canal just off the junction between the Walsall canal and the Tame Valley canal.  It was here that I lived in her back cabin for nearly four years before selling her.

Toll End Branch
Another view of our moorings at Toll End. The M.E.B. sportsground behind the boat was 'my garden'.  This branch canal now forms part of British Waterways Residential marina and moorings.

Home Sweet Home
This is probably one of the best photo's I have of Bingley and needs no extra words.

Coal on the Trent & Mersey
This shot was taken a few months after I sold Bingley to Tam and Di Murrel. They had Bingley  paired with Towcester and this photo shows them selling coal over the side on the Trent and Mersey canal.
