NARROW BOAT BINGLEY

Here are some views showing BINGLEY after being restored back to trading condition.

BACK CABIN RANGE
A shot of the inside of BINGLEY'S back cabin. All was finished, except for the doors. I spent the next four years living in this tiny cabin. People would say "how can you live in such a tiny place" but I'd go back tomorow!

BACK CABIN BED 'OLE
Another shot taken inside BINGLEYS back cabin this time showing the front of the bed hole and the table, folded up. The roses on the table and the castles on the panels were one of my efforts and they still look reasonable.

BINGLEY AT PARKHEAD
In 1973, the Dudley Tunnel was officialy opened by Sir Frank Price, BWB chairman, at the TRAD weekend (Tunnel Reopening At Dudley)
After all the years I had given to the Dudley Canal Tunnel Preservation Society(DCTPS)later the Dudley Canal Trust, legging trip boats through the tunnel since the sixties,BINGLEY was given one of the reserved VIP moorings at Park Head right above the top lock and right in front of the official opening. Also in this shot is COLLINGWOOD B'ham & Midlands dustbin boat, Keith Cristie's Josher LYNX and Pat & Clive Steavens' pair of big Woolwiches BATTERSEA & BARNES>

BINGLEY AT TOLL END
This final shot shows Dawn and I on the back end of BINGLEY at its moorings on the Toll End branch canal right next to Ocker Hill power station and overlooked by its cooling towers.
Of the few photos I have of BINGLEY, I think this is the one which captures the moment for me. The only thing missing is the thirty ton of coal!
