WEDNESBURY TOWN
In Wednesbury town, A town whose name,
Is coupled with it's cocking fame,
Was yearly held by custom's right,
A wake where colliers met to fight,
Where bulls were baited, torn, abused,
And dogs were killed which much amused
Those sturdy knights of coal and hammer
Who scoff at peace and joy at clammour.
Amy Lyons 1901
